    World Cup TV Coverage

OK so far we have confirmed coverage into the Australia, New Zealand, UK, the middle east, PNG, Fiji, Solomans, Samoa and Cook Islands. Also on the RLWC broadcast page it has africa but nothing under it, could be something in the making... let's hope so anyway.

OK so a few absent countries/ areas that i would like to see get coverage.

    1. France
    2. USA
    3. Russia
    4. Tonga

Surely france will get coverage, It would be great if USA and Russia could get coverage. Why Tonga doesn't get coverage i don't know...

Is it too late to assume new TV deals could be done before the start of the WC? Asia would be great, North America, South America and more in europe also. You know if any games will be played in germany druzik?

Also just a quick side note, last night Warren Smith confirmed on NRL on Fox that fox sports will cover 9 live RLWC games. So all games will be televised in Australia, 9 on win TV, 9 on Fox.

With Europe the two big broadcasters are Eurosport and ESPN, which also does the USA. I have not heard any deals with them but then again it could still be early days. I do know that ESPN are doing 60 ESL games this year so they may pick up a few WC games as well.

From what I have been told, DSF in Germany is interested in RL generally but they are having issues finding any German commentators of sufficient quality and knowledge to do the RL feeds in general.

France I am sure will get the Sky feeds and on their local carriers. Russia and  Tonga???

Yeah, 9 live games and the rest on Delay. I assume that 9 and win will get the premiere games and so fox will televise live some of the other pool games which is good, basically all games will be live on some carrier in Oz.

From what I see Good work.

Just realised, If ESPN pick up games they do all Europe except UK as well, so Germany, Russia etc... would get coverage through them.

Here is a good link to read:

    http://www.nrl.com/News/Latest/tabid/10244/default.aspx?id=50966

It explains how successful the event has already become, and what international broadcasters have already signed up, which is very impressive I must say.

Interesting to read that the Victorian government has also contributed money to RLWC08.

it does'nt work like that mate...if germany wanted coverage a german or european station that broadcasts into germany like eurosport would have to buy the rights..infact eurosport would be the best bet

as it goes, announced today www.espn360.com have the american rights,ESPN 360 is the internet tv arm of sports giant ESPN

Another noticeable absentee from previous World Cups is South Africa! No doubt the biggotted policies of the South African Rugby Union have played their part in the demise of rugby leage in South Africa!

Well there is still time to do deals, check out the article on the main page, that i a whopping list of countries. Still a few areas i would like to see the RLWC get TV coverage for:

    1. Tonga, at this stage are the only country playing not to get coverage
    2. South Africa
    3. China and/or India. 1/3 of the world right there.
    4. South America - Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Uraguay, Paraguay, any of these would be great
    5. broader europe, Germany, Italy and Russia in particular.
    6. USA - Proper TV coverage, not internet.

the european arm of ESPN would have to get the rights for it to be shown on ESPN shown in europe
