    Milliniem Magic

Just wanted to hear people's thoughts about that weekend of rugby league. I watched last years events on Fox here in Australia. I was very impressed with the event and thought it is a event with huge potential. Playing the games in Wales will also add to the marketing and the welsh can and will become part of this event, in my opinion. Any thoughts?

    Re: Milliniem Magic

I have written a few blogs on the next world cup forum, i have mentioned that i thought America would be a good place to have the 2017 world cup, i also have been following the events of the Jacksonville match between Leeds and The Sydney Rabbits, this game, now sold out has created such a huge amount of interest over there, the mayor Mr Bouda has "welcomed rugby league with open arms" into their city, as you know its getting unprecidented coverage from australia england and america media, thanks to the work of russell crowe and holmes a court. Australian ambasador has gone over to help in the promotion, also the Head of the RLIF lewis has turned up to talk about maybe holding the WCC game over there from now on, the exposure that this will have on league in america will be enormous, and the local competition over there has now got a real shot in the arm from this event, they say one person cant change the world, i think of ghandi, mother teresa and now Russell crowe. P.S  Thank you also Mr Bouda, he can sit along side russell.

Jacksonville= A large city like a cross between surfers paradise and brisbane river city, largest land area city in usa. Florida state Jaxaxe league club

The game will be televised and shown in U.K and Oz channell 9

Just checking the results so far.

    Football: 46.12%
    League: 30.14%
    AFL: 18.7%
    Union: 5.03%

I Love it lol, not sure about soccer though, obviously alot of people too soft to watch or play a game where someone might actually get hurt instead of faking all the time. lol. Great to see union so low! and AFL below league!

    Re: Milliniem Magic

Ah well it's not too bad, and put this into account. The knight were wooden spooners last year whilst the jets were minor premiers!

Like the article said they're arnt really in competition because the seasons dont overlap.

BTW AFL is cathing up. Keep Voting People!!!

    Re: Milliniem Magic

I've just been reading up on this years millenium magic, sounds like they are going to put on a show, inside and outside of the stadium.

I have one question, however, why aren't celtic crusaders playing a game? i mean surely you want to promote them as much as possible, so why not give them a game at wales' biggest RL event? it confuses me. Rest assured if i were in charge celtic would have a game aswell as maybe a welsh conference game between the top welsh sides.

Well MM is just for Super League teams, if Celtic get in for next year then they will be at MM.

Anyhow, Bridgend is about a 20 min drive or 30 min train trip up from Cardiff, and so they need to promote the crowds to go to the Brewery field, thats what will really help them.

    Re: Milliniem Magic

Yeh but still i think it would be a good idea to promote wales' best RL team at wales' biggest RL event. Also, I think it might be wise for the CC to move to cardiff, I mean the stadium is already there, maybe that's a better option than upgrading brewery field? im not sure, still i think it would be sensible to have CC playing at MM. Also have a welsh domestic comp game, cardiff demons against another welsh team. Can only help promote the CC and the welsh domestic comp.

I am all up for promoting the game where I can, but you also need to be realistic about this.

Each day you have 3 games of RL so add to that inbetween the games 1/2 hour there is 5.5 hours that people are in the stadium already, next year it will be 7.5 hours with two extra teams. So another game where the quality would be less than that os SL could potentially make little business sense.

Its upto the Welsh RL and CC to promote themselves, they cant be lead by the hand everywhere by the RFL. As it is there is no way that CC would fill out the Mellenium stadium. Onl;y international manage that. even Union clubs have small grounds for themselves and there is no way they will share with the RL.

Brewery field is an OK stadium, if its done up a bit then it will be even better. Its not difficult for welsh fans to get to, its on the main train line and close to cardiff as it is.

The domestic comp starts in the later part of may usually, after MM weekend.

    Re: Milliniem Magic

i see what you're saying, maybe make it a 3 dayer next year. Well maybe CC will be in it next year, you never know. Still not against a Cardiff Demons game, i mean they are a local team, so why not give them a game, it would be much like the Premier league games before last years NRL fixtures.

Ok, i'll go ahead and say, just for an example that CC and Salford get in next year.

    Friday

    6pm - Wakefield Vs Castleford
    8pm - Leeds Vs Bradford

    Saturday

3pm - Cardiff Vs Bridgend (Welsh RL game)
    5pm - Salford Vs Harlequins
7pm - St Helens Vs Wigan

    Sunday

    2pm - Warrington Vs Huddersfield
4pm - Hull FC Vs Hull KR
    6pm - Celtic V Catalans

    Re: Milliniem Magic

That might happen next year like that, though I doubt the Welsh domestic teams will be there. They are effectively NL3 standard and the Cymril RL and ESL and RFL want to promote the best product.

Look, who knows mate, maybe next year they may just do that. Have maybe the opening round of the Welsh conference that weekend, which gives another 3 games there.

From what I can see is that Richard Lewis (anyone notice that the RFL head has initials RL same as Rugby League... a good omen?) is a shrewd business man and knows how to run things. Lets get this year out of the way and plan ahead then.

Though just occurd to me, if you are going to have that then the Scots will want to have some of the action as well.

    Re: Milliniem Magic

Yeh, i suppose however it goes down it is still good for RL in wales. I think Crusaders will get in next year, although i dobt they will meet the criteria, i hope the RFL enforces the criteria and CC have to wait  3 years but i can see them taking the quick option.

Yeh i suppose the scots would want some action and the irish for that matter.
