I think you will find that most will agree with you, you are saying nothing that has not been said before. But one of the problems in the past has been that the RLIF just hasn't had the spine to put their foot down and say enough is enough. They basically have concentrated on 3/4 teams and so everyone wants to play for them.

The solutution as I see it is to get more matches for the smaller nations and give them a shot at the big boys occasionally, this gives better incentive for players to stick with their first country instead of switching.

I know exactly what your on about... I have seen the "passion" on some of the players first hand.

i agree that all players should only be allowed to play for once nation, once they put on an irish jumper thats it! why is this so hard to inforce! i don't understand, it's one of the main reasons international rugby league is seen as a joke.

Yeah, mate you players to show some pride...... PNG's  Adrian Lam (now the Kumuls coach) wanted to play for PNG even as he was the first pick for the Kangaroos halfback....he still wanted to play for country of his heritage..this is when he was still the Maroons captain and Rest of the world captain...players should learn from Lam's experience...

Druzik hit the nail on the head. If other nations were given more opportunity, we'd probably see the talent eligible for these nations be less likely to turn their backs on rep football for a crack at the Kiwi shirt or the green and gold.

A financially successful RLWC this year could mean more opportunities in the future with Test matches in the Pacific.

Further, the RLIF need to review transfer rules now for the next RLWC so that we don't see mickey mouse changing. 

Although the current RLWC rules are pretty mickey mouse... one has to admit that this years RLWC has a real, new exciting feel to it with the access Tonga & Samoa have to many of their NRL & SL stars this year! Even Scotland & Ireland are benefiting from calling on players who have family ties etc...

Lets be honest... if all these other teams could not call on these stars... we might as well scratch the WC and just have a same ol, same ol tri-nations, cos no one else would have a chance...

Ideally, the RLWC will provide the international game with a solid financial base to start regular internationals in the Pacific. The RLEF and European bodies have done well to get a regular programme of internationals. This should continue also.

 Once the regular programme is there, the incentive will be there to remain loyal to a nation because that nation will have regular opportiunities to play. Hopefully, that is back up by ENFORCED laws of representation that allow professionals to turn out for these national teams and enforce a strict regime when players seek to change allegiance. If any player wants to change allegiance, they should formally declare their intention and then be forced to endure a waiting period so that we don't get ad hoc, mickey mouse changes.

I like what all you say but this world cup will do alot for our great game and im willing to travel from 5 hours away to with my young family watch Samoa & Tonga play.There is alot of NRL & Super League players in the tournament and that can only make the tournament stonger

At the end of the day....whats done is done.... no matter how angry league people are....  For me, its the RLIF's fault, there's noone else to blame for all this "country hopping" around.  But then again letting these Tongans, Samoans, Fijians come back & play for there Island Nation? I have no worries about that, its good for the game, you just have to look at rugby.... for all of you who dissagree? TOUGH!!! deal with it & move on, life's toooo short for bullshit....

im a passionate kiwi but i would not be upset if we got beat by samoa or tonga,we owe alot of success to the players who have there behemoth genes!!!but most these days are kiwi born or lived here since they were infants,and are giving back to the country that has given them the best oppotunitys to succeed,for example ive traveled alot through tonga and have seen how much the (royalty)country cares about its people and i know they should be proud of were they come from, they dont owe them anything,respect for vagana and co for going back to get there countrys on the map,i dont think theres many players who are thinkin of the glory first, before were there heart is.with exception of toni carrol,karmichael hunt,mateo.carrol easily the worst turn-coat ever,and hunt would have considered been a kiwi if he didnt get a maroon jumper that first year.you cant say,im ok with fein ,his wifes a kiwi,his kids are all born here and he didnt turn and run after the granny agte crap.go tonga ikale tahi,samoa , nz poly nations 4 eva.
