Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
That's great news and what a final it is going to be!
Anyone have any updates on the other games ticket sales?

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
If you read the prenter report, you might have noticed that donald trump will be at the semi final in brisbane to watch the game, i have written a post about this and what it might mean for rugby league, you can make your own prediction, i have bought tickets to the semi in brisbane even though we dont know who is playing, on this account i would say that the tickets wont be sold until later in the year nearer semi final time, but having said this , my wife is hoping it will be england verses a island team, either tonga or somoa. The tickets available were good seats and i am glad we got in early. The way i look at it , whoever plays it will be a cracker of a game. The longer people wait the lest likely chance of getting right in the persperation seats, not that it really matters at suncorp, the worse seats are even good seats.
So having said this i would say that about 20 thousand tickets sold to the semi, still able to get seats around the lower tier. But looks like they are filling up and for a semi in which we dont know who is playing, thats pretty good.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
Unfortunately the semi in Brisbane can't be England vs Tonga or Samoa. It is the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in Pool One. So that means two teams out of Australia, England, New Zealand, and PNG. It will definitely be a good match-up though.

Good. So if every-thing runs as what we are thinking it will be England Verse New Zealand. Just got a whole lot better from where i am sitting.
Thanks for the info beez, i never really had a close look at the semi, just thought it would have to be a good game.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
Just found this website, ESL fan just looking for fixture list for the World Cup. The ticket sales sound great, especially compared to the World Cups in England, sorry UK. Alot of games here were poorly attended especially those in Northern Ireland and Scotland, no ESL teams and no real interest in the game so no surprise really. In terms of ESL compared to NRL, NRL still much better, our top teams here can give all the NRL sides a run for their moeny and I would bet both would finish in the top 6. Great thing about both these clubs is they have a lot of English players and players that have come through the Junior ranks. Sprinkle with some good Aus/NZ players and they are very good. Main difference in ESL is quality throughout the comp, still a number of sides that struggle. Also think we play far to many games to allow the competition to be more even, as soon as the lower sides loose a couple of players through injury they don't have the right quality to put in compared to the top teams. Not all NRL players are great in ESL, Matt Sing is poor, King is struggling, Pat Richards player reserve grade for a year because he couldb't get in the first team. Admit though some average players from the NRL do very well, Dobson at Catalan, Wigan and now KR is one that springs to mind.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
Yes, you also forgot Adam Mogg who slipped through the cracks after taking origin by storm, and another guy i thought was going to be a very good player who has slipped through the cracks before he could get a contract here was George Carmont. I think he was just starting to play good footy over here then he ended up in england. Tim Smith will be a good buy 2. Good half-backs are rare and hard to come by.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
They are cheap i know, if you think about what they pay for tickets in Sydney at the moment just makes you wonder why more people dont turn up, i'll give you a example, in Brisbane we pay 45 dollars for ordinary seats, about 20 pound, and good seats about 35 pound=$75 oz..
Now if you look at what deals they have in Sydney at the moment just goes to show the cost of living in Sydney, you can buy a package deal in Sydney to 2 games for $25, thats 11 pound for 2 games,. and the people dont turn up? Also the bulldogs are letting people in for free, Makes you wonder how anyone can support these other codes, they seem to charge more and people still turn up. I think league will have a huge transformation in Sydney soon to get fans back, we are seeing the best league played yet nobody wants to go to the games, they all watch it on t/v. Our t/v veiwer ratings are enormous.
Mind you the crowds at the home games in Sydney are very good, just that big stadium in Sydney looks empty on t/v, It would be like one of your teams playing at wembly stadium every week for a normal match, the crowds would look small. What they should do in Sydney is build a smaller Stadium just for league and soccer, about 55 thousand is the right size for league, and have it in a good cosy location like Suncorp in Brisbane, next to the city and handy to all transport links. Over in New York one of the rugby league teams has its ground out over the river, Now that would be a good stadium.

Wow that cheap, that almost like entry to regular games... I guess Rugby league is not dependent on internationals, and the smaller stadiums allow the prices to be kept down. Union is purely dependent on its internationals for rurvival its club games are a shambles and so they need to hike the prices. They also have a habbit of giving away 50% of their tickets for free to all the corparates etc... so anything left over they have to hike the prices up. RL tends not to do that.

Its called Aussie Stadium (the old Sydney football stadium). Has good bus links and free busses from Central and Circular quay, there are lots of decent pubs and restaurants in the area, after the game can hit paddington if you want to go out clubbing, you have the park across the road so kids pre game can play a bit and also people can have BBQ's... like with many things in RL, we have a fantastic idea and then ditch it!
East, Sts and Sths used to play out of that stadium till Olympic was buits, started to look like a white elephant and so they ahd to entice teams to go and play there.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
That is regular games i am talking about druzik, not for world cup games, they are priced at the right price giving that they are for the world cup, no that 11 pounds is for 2 regular season games in Sydney. No bad prices, wish we lived down there , i would be out every weekend at the league games.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
The Channel 9 Footy show announced that the Cup final had been sold out last Sunday. That is good news. I have the feeling that this tournament has been well planned and will be a major success.

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
Its a shame the official opener (AUST V NZ game) is on a Sunday, as I am sure more fans would turn up for a Saturday evening game. But Id say they have looked at potential TV ratings which will be greater for Channel 9 on a Sunday night!

Re: World Cup Ticket Sales
Hopefully the promoters of the tournament put out a draw for the World Cup during the NRL finals series, as this will achieve greater exposure, as the general public is more into the footy at this time! Exposure in the major newspapers is particularly required!
The earlier the draw is mass promoted(newspapers) to the general public, the more people will plan to attend a match!
I know people who know it is on, but have no idea of the dates and who is playing where & when!
