    Re: Centenary test

That game was a cracker. NZ can consider themselfs unlucky to not get even closer, IMO that smith try was double movement and the 1st try was 1 in 1000. It was scary how good australia is, It is the best australian side i have seen ever and NZ did really well to stay with tham after the first 20. When you think about it NZ won the last 60 minutes of the game, If it wasn't for that great aussie start it could have been a whole lot different.

Great game, great crowd, great night for international Rugby League!

    Also

halfs were shocking! Roberts and Marshall could do alot more for that team than Hohai and Lueleui did. If NZ had Benji playing and

If NZ had Benji and Roberts playing it would have been trouble for australia, IMO that was the only area they were poor in, backs were great considering who they were marking and forwards aswell, SBW man of the Match IMO.

    Super Steve:

Yeah I wasnt impressed with the ref, very inconsistent.

SCG capacity at the moment is around 38000 yes, most people during the week were suggesting 25000 would be the best they would get, so 35000 was a great result. Still, if they played it in QLD they would have got 52000, but it was a traditional match and I thought in the end it was a great night for Rugby League. NZ have come a very long way since the end of last year.

The turn-out to the game repudiates dogged's claim that 50% or more of the seats were going to be empty.

    Re: Centenary test

that 2nd half by nz shows that they can go with australia it was just nz's attack couldent break the great australians online defence

as an aussie i fought sonny bill was the best on ground for nz they need to do everything they can to keep him in rugby league you could see that in the 2nd half he was doing everything he could to get nz back into the game issac luke had are good game to but they took him off and dident bring him back into the last 20 should of kept him out there and played him in the halfs cause both halfs for nz showed nothing to be honest

oh and good crowd just cant beat the fact that if it was in brisbane they would get nearly 50.000

    Re: Centenary test

Considering the half and five-eight where only thrown together the last day i thought they did a good job, brent webb was a little overawed by the aussies at first but came into the game in the 2nd half, sonny bill is just awesome, nothing else needs to be said, they stood up and mannering was outstanding as well. At least they now know they can match it with australia,

and i liked what slater said about the match," it was like a state of origin game out there tonite"

I thought it was but it seemed to have a bit more nervous tension about it, like i have said in previous posts, the pressure on the aussies is enormous, we expect them to win , the day they get beaten would be like losing your dog bluey.

The wallabies dont have this sort of pressure put on them, we never expect them to win?

    Re: Centenary test

Definetly agree with sbw and mannering but if nz can get inu and marshall back for the wc then its going to be very interesting in oct/nov. I find when nz plays a series of games they seem to get better and better like the trinations in 05 and 06.If they can win all the games in there group against aus, eng, png i reckon they can go all the way. Does anyone know how itll work with the supergroup. I mean whoever wins the group do they play against the winner of the b and c group?

2nd and 3rd in the supergroup play each other in the semis, the other game is 1st in Pool A Vs the winner of a SF Qualifier between the winners of pool B and C.
