ROOSTER:I have the impression that the RL World Cup will be a success. People can ridicule the game, but the product is essentially superior to all football codes with maybe soccer as a worthwhile sporting peer! It is only the biggotted and unsporting policies of football codes such as rugby union & Aust Rules that have played a major part in inhibiting the inevitable growth of RL in both Australia and worldwide. As I have stated, the worst maketing mistake for the RL World Cup was not including the draw with the NRL draw earlier this year. It can only get better!
Soccer's appeal is really only one... and that is the nature of that sport. A team of almost amateurs can still potentially beat a team of full pros. No way can this happen these days in Rugby League or other codes. But even still this is starting to disapear in Soccer with a select group of clubs having all the money and buysing players and ensuring success. Though this years FA cup still has shown the "volatility" in soccer game. Thats what fans go to see that small chance of someone maybe getting in there. Though am hoping Widnes, Barrow or Haven can cause an upset this weekend in the CC! :)
