England definately have a hope. Some people need to stop being so arogant! I don't think England winning the World cup would do anything for the game there.

England have more than just hope, for me next to Aus they are the favourites... seeing what I have last year and this year, England will be formiddable. Write them off at your own perril. Same with NZ and France.

The thing holding RL back everywhere is its marketing... but the problem is its just so hard to do it when the cash aint there.

If we win the group game against Aus then were fuc**d, if we lose the group game we have a chance, cos everybody knows we only beat Aus once in a comp!!

anyway write France off, just hope they dont suffer too badly in the semi against who I would imagine was Australia

Looking at Scotland and Fiji France have a struggle on to get to the Qualifying semi, never mind the semi final proper

Right on all counts Kiwi fan, it might get a boost at first what with no Football team at the euro champs but TBH by October the Premier League will be in full swing again, and the Euro 2008 long forgotten about.

Be good to see England , Australia world cup final, hopefully everything will be in place, now  what i mean by this should be as follows,

Super league expanded to include Celtic Crusaders and new french team, the reason behind "this must have expansion" goes way beyond teams missing out, take australia for example and not keeping there expansion plans with West Aussie and South Oz, now we are seeing the difficulties of having to re-expand those areas, If you have the chance to do this, dispite the fact the crowds may be down, its the future that needs to be looked at and NOW while you have the chance.

Not only will it give more exposure to Wales with Millium Magic, but also fast tracks France into being a world dominate side .

I have just watched a game between wire and saints, and i can rest assure that England will be a real chance in the world cup.

I was under the impression it went from 90 to 100+? Maybe I am mistaken. Still Last years CC final sepit such a large crowd looked like had many holes in it.

There was many holes in the crowd, this was due to the Club Wembly season ticket holders not turning up for the game. As for the St Helens and Catalan Supporters (and all other supporters for that matter),we were there in full force and pretty much sold out.

As for England, if we don't win the World cup now, we never will. Provided we stay injury free this is our best chance in years. (But considering that earlier this season Super League had 25% of its players injured this could be difficult)

Bold statement, i think england are a good chance to win this WC, who's to say you won't have a super squad come 2013?

Re: What will happen if England win the world cup?

Fair point, but not looking to far into the future, I see English Rugby League at its strongest for the past decade.

As for the future? Its looking promising. Its been said that St Helens have enough home grown players to see them through the the next few years after the immanent retirement of Long, Sculthorpe and Cunningham.

With the likes of James Roby and James Graham for Saints and Sam Burgess for Bradford all being key 1st team player now, this can only be good for England.

    Hey All

Ok Now Australia Is Going To Own U All And U All Know That.

With Players Like Thurston Lockyer,Gasnier,Cooper,I Falou,Mason,Bird,G Inglis,Billy Slater, list goes on and on,this will be totally different to 2005 tri nations :D

My Prediction Australia To Win Every Match Will Be Undefeated,Theres Only 2 Sides Can Match Us That Is England n NZ.

With the attitudes you Poms have ofcourse you wont win the world cup! Look at you, your defeated already. In all other sports you'll be banging on about how England will win the soccer, stuff up the French in the Union... gonna kill Aus in the cricket... come RL ohhhh Australia is too strong we have lost already before any ball has been kicked.... BOLLOCKS!

Now, as an Aussie fan but more importantly an IRL and RL fan in general I have seen over the years what great upsets TGG can deliver. You say you have the strongest squad in decades but still can't beat Asutralia... well my Denglish and GB friends in general, I give you two motivations:

    1. 1992 world cup final

    2. 2000 world cup semi-final.

If those games aren't enough to motivate you into A. Getting revenge, and B. seeing that the "impossible" is possible with a great squad then I don't know what the hell will motivate you guys. Maybe a bit of sun during summer ;)

A full strength England team would be a match for Australia any day of the year.

Problems occur for us when we start picking up injuries as we just dont have the depth of the Aus squad.

Re: What will happen if England win the world cup?

In 1997 when there was an ashes decider at Elland Road, Rugby League got a lot of media attention, so I think if they make the final it will get a lot of attention just for that. Rugby League Ruling bodies don't do anything for the game though, because it will only be on SKY. If it was on national TV, it would bring a lot of attention, but any interest would go with not being able to watch it without having Sky.

As for winning it, We can do it with the right team and keeping free from injuries.
