Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

Will take your advice re Newcastle on board. I would definitely go for that, but as am part of group of 18 have to try and accomodate everybody. Seems a shame to travel 2-3 hours to somewhere and not check that place out. so my recommendation to our group is as you suggest, overnight stay in Newcastle.

Looking forward to trip immensly, have been to Aus 4 times before, mainly around Brisbane and coast area around there, also Fraser, Whitsundays and Cairns, cant wait to come back. Your country is wonderful. anyone who hasnt been to Aus already, you are in for a great time, but be aware how big the country is!!

Never been to Melbourne, looking forward to it. Each place is different and some places betterr than others but looking forward to checking different places out.

Sure we will find a good pub/bar near time to meet all England fans!!

Well In Brisbane there used to be the Britania Inn, English Styled pub with English beers as well as local ones, english food. It was in the Wintergarden in Queen Street Mall in the centre of Brisbane and not too far from Suncorp. Not sure if its still there but that could be an option for you when in Brisie.

Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

Sorry I don't think the german Govt would give me time off to fly 16,000km and back for Rugby League.

As it is I am making up for it with plenty of International RL this year, Italy vs. Germany, Czech vs. Italy, Estonia vs. Latvia, Latvia vs. Ukraine, Serbia vs. Russia, South Africa vs. Lancashire, CC final, ESL Final, Elite Final and next weekend CC round 4 in Whitehaven and maybe the Ireland v England WC warm up game...

... but I will be there in Spirit. :)

Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

    Yep.

    • June 13 Italy vs Germany in Padova Italy
    • Also in June domestic games in Germany. Based around Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Frankfurt and Munich.
    • July 6 a Germany A vs. Germany B match in Heidelberg apparently
    • 2 August, Germany vs. Czech Rep. in Karlsruhe. Preceding this game will be a Karlsruhe v germany/Check select as the opener. This will showcase some of the younder up and commers from both countries against one of germanies nwere but stronger domestic teams. - I will however be in Riga that day to see Latvia v Ukraine.
    • 9 August, Germany vs RLEF XIII in Bad Reichenhall. This is a Testimonial for Germany's captain Leo Burngruber who retires from international competition end of this year. He will continue in the domestic games and also help out in coaching and I think also to continue Austria's development.

So Italy may be a bit hard obviously, but the other matches are only a few hours by train from Hamburg. Bad Reichenhall is over near the Czech border but worth a visit I am told.
