I'm staying at the Hamilton Heritage B&B.  Pictures online look good and they say they are a short walk from the stadium.  I had to call them as they don't apear to have online booking facilities.

A nice option for locality to the stadium....probably about a 10minute walk. Hamilton has one of our main restuarant/coffee/pub streets....this would also be a 5-10minute walk from where you are. As for the city centre/beaches etc, you'd be looking at about a 10minute car trip.

Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

We are staying in Sydney and we have only got this part of our trip left to sort out.

We are having a bit of trouble sorting out how we are getting there and back, and whether or not we will be staying over.

Could anyone suggest some decent accomodation? It doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just clean and tidy and if possible, a decent location.

Also it seems that the train looks to be the best option, but we can't seem to find any timetables/operators that run there.

    Any help is appreicated.

What sort of accommodation...hotel/motel, b&b, backpackers, etc???

     As for trains, go here

    http://www.cityrail.nsw.gov.au/

Go to timetables, scroll down to "Intercity Lines", and select "Newcastle-Central" or vice-versa.

    Looking at a 2.5-3hr trip.

Exellent. It seems that the trains are very regular. Would you suggust pre booking tickets before we get there, or just purchasing them when we arrive?

     Train tickets or game tickets?

Broadmeadow station is the train station near the ground.....would be a 10 minute walk.

Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

Just got of the phone to the Hamilton Heritage B&B and we are all booked in.

We just need to sort out trains now. The Woman from the B&B said the trains run very regular, even at weekends, so we will probably just turn up at the station.

Re: Eng. Vs NZ in Newcastle

Yeah mate, trains from sydney are every hour during the day on weekends.

This is a decent website for general Newcastle tourist info.
