Tamatoa, look i dont know how the island group work, but would it be alright to call the islands group just that.

I mean instead of being called new zealand in the tests, tri nations, could we call them the islanders. Is this a sore point or not?

And then when it comes to a world cup then any players can make there island the one they want to play for, this must have already been discussed by the R.L.I.F ?

no offence mate, but are you taking the p*ss? new zealand is new zealand, it is a multi cultural country and a lot of polynesians live there. if they choose to play for nz, they play for nz!

The issue is not if a PI is eligible for NZ or OZ or wherevere... if eligible great... the point is for them to make a choice and stick by it and show the passion for that country of choice. If they want to change then they need to follow RLIF rules, wait 2 years before being able to play for the other country. I don't care what year or tournament id on. Those are the rules that MUST be enforced.

The lack of passion I saw last year was unberlieveable and the fact that Asotasia dn others are masking it with a coaching blame is unbelievable. There was no passion for the Kiwi Jumper last year... its as if these players have been planning this all along.

Look druzik, your dead right, i have no idea who is from what island, by this i mean if they play for new zealand i always thought they were new zealanders, reading through this lot is a night mare, 2 many players switching alliance and like you have said, there heart is not in it. Maybe league is dying in new zealand. They are more interested in union over there i think?

I still find it hard to comprehend that vungana is going to play for samoa, i always thought he was a kiwi. No wonder the officials cant work it out?

the IRB has a one country policy, You only ever can play for one country. So even if your Samoan and play for NZ then you can never play for Samoa... or its very very hard to go and play for samoa. It makes players think real hard about who and where they want to play. RU has many 'foreign players' in all their teams... but at least when a player says I play for a country they give it their all.

I really do think the RLIF need to sit down and sort this mess out.

tamatoa, literally who f**k is you source, maybe you should go and tell them to get their facts right b4 start shoutin bout *** that aint tru, all three of these players cannot play for samoa coz of d rule that the nzrl have got enforced on all the players, and for the line up you got, that list my friend is a load of ***, your souce said that reni maitua will play for samoa in which he plays for australia so tell your source that he needs to straighten up for one,you and half of that team cannot play for them anyway coz of the 2 year law. so you go back to your little drawing board and chalk up another F****ed up list and try again, and thios time with actual samoan players this time not some has bins like nigel.

I have just posted on future world cups, might be a idea to read this as it could be a way to stop this players changing teams?

Re: Sonny Bill, Steve Matai, David Fa'alogo and co set to turn their backs on the kiwis and rep Toa Samoa at the Cup 08''

It is interesting that the other night on Maori Tv they interviewd a couple of Kiwi players who have said they can wait till the ANZAC test....and some of the players they were talking to (who acording to tamatoa are playing for Samoa) said they cant wait to play for the Kiwis....

The reason these players will play for Samoa is:

    • David Solomona - Got pissed off for not been selected for ANZAC test, turned his back on the Kiwis.
    • Tony Puletua - Wouldnt have been selected for the Kiwis last year.
    • Henry Fa'afili - Wouldnt of been selected for the Kiwis
    • Francis Meli - Wouldnt been selected for the Kiwis
    • Ifeta Paleasina - Wouldnt of been selected for the Kiwis

I will put money on Sonny Bill and David Fa'alogo not playing for Samoa in this years World Cup..

Hmmmmmmmm I just think tamatoa is a troll...

sources?! hah, yeah mate straight from sonny himself first cousins ok. nigel's rounding up the boys  and its like this. the world cup rolls around every four years so while theres a loop hole in the system which allows it. Nigel is captain and only a year and a bit ago he played his last game for the kiwis, same as ali, solomona etc. moimoi and tuiaki were helping tongas cause only ten months prior to their kiwi selection. sonny knows whats going on, his manger is coaching samoa and has been in his ear for the get go. he knows whats he wants to do and leagally he knows how to do it, so before you come on here blasting me etc. i reckon shut the hell up an watch this space.

Yeah yeah what ever...first cousins....the proof in the pudding will come in May for the ANZAC test...

The NZRL will not allow him to play as he played for the Kiwis last year...the RLIF cant allow him unless both countries agree.....and if they do allow him i bet you he wont be allowed to come back so he can just enjoy playing Tonga once a year. The only reason nigel was allowed to play for Samoa was because NZRL said they supported him....same as Tonga for Fuifui...

Even if you are correct, Samoa might as well be called NZ B as the whole team will be Kiwi born...

Re: Sonny Bill, Steve Matai, David Fa'alogo and co set to turn their backs on the kiwis and rep Toa Samoa at the Cup 08''

Thats funny, because all the kiwis and samoans and tongans we have here in australia  are looked at like they are part of australia, lots of them have been here quite awhile but if they want to play for their country we dont seem to question this, take karmichael hunt, he decided to play for australia but he could have played for the kiwis, we would not even have questioned this as i think australia and new zealand you can come and go as you please, makes it hard to put barriers up for anyone i think.

It all comes back to how the player feels in his own mind.? I would like to see some groundwork done in the P.I and i think shane webke is going to help in this area. I dont think just because you move to australia or new zealand for work that you should forget about where you come from, look at the arabs and other cultures, they all bring there own culture to oz and dont forget there homeland? The population of australia makes it easier for us to retain players, if we were a small island this would not be the case. The islanders bring so much talent to the game, by rights you should be dominating, instead you fight.

How are they Samoan and Tongans?? They were born here in NZ!! And if it was not for NZ nearly all of them wouldnt have played League...

What it comes down to is Tonga and Samoa are to lazy to develop their own talent....Maybe they should take a good look at what Fiji are doing...a real Pacific Nation playing league and not looking for any person who has 1% Islander blood in him to name them in their team.

unless your an islander kiwileaugefan, dont assume. I was born in nz and am proud of it but I samoan, like many of us our parents migrated there for better opportunities. same as kiwis coming to australia. they still call themselves kiwis?! im a nz born samoan, but its samoan Identity that defines me, not my kiwi entitiy......its not a question, its a fact! so what if sonny bill, fa'alogo etc play for samoa?! alot of us a born in nz but are raised samoan! aks any player.
