A detailed draw of when, where & who should be promoted through the newspapers, in particular, either this week ,next week or the days immediatley after the Grandfinal. This is when most people are reading about rugbyleague! It is a must! Lets hope it happens.

Dont get too hung up on the PAX numbers- at best they're just a ballpark figure, and a very vague one at that. From what I've seen in the past the PAX is a rough estimate of numbers printed, but I'm guessing that includes tickets that are not used for whatever reason, held aside for special promotions or whatever else goes on in the dark recesses of Ticketek.

They're the best thing we have to go on though so keep 'em coming. Vague is better than nothing.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

If those PAX numbers for the Sydney games are indicative of the tickets sold to Sydneysiders then we're doing well.

We're bad at pre-buying tickets in Sydney and in the days before the Centenary Test only 17,000 tickets had been sold or so.  The game ended up with a crowd 34,000.

These are pretty good signs for Sydney more than a month out.

The RLWC has been promoted at the Semi-Finals so far (even the one in Auckland) with the "Heroes, Here 08" advertisements.

There's an 'Official Guide' out now in Newsagents, the merchandise is in Sports stores everywhere and it's getting steadily more mentions in the media.

I'm pretty positive about the way its going at the moment.

For this to be a major success,it needs to be put in front of the casual general public and not just the RL public. That is the best way to promote a tournament and grab the cream results.

We have brought 4 tickets for this game but we are cheering for England, can't wait for the game will be a brilliant atmosphere, hotel is booked (paid over the odds as Melbourne Cup is running on the same weekend) bad admin on their part but the money coming into Melbourne on that weekend will be unbelieveable.

You're right about its success being dependnet upon how many non-RL fans are exposed to it.  The RLIF should look at providing television coverage of the event to South America, Asia, North America and mainland Europe.

Agreed, in the UK the BBC national radio station have been talking about RU international games kicking off next year. No mention of the RLWC.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

Unfortunately a complete World Cup draw has not been publicised so far in post the Grandfinal week. This is a major mistake, as alot of the sports public switch off after this week. The casual fan is not aware of the World Cup and requires something concrete such as a draw to be promoted throughout the major newspapers.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

I'm sure the newspapers will publish a preview liftout in the week leading into the tournament like they usually do.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

I'm sure they will, well after the mainstream general sports public have stopped reading rugby league!
