    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

Thanks for the ticket update AfterTheFall. I can't decide whether that is a good number or bad. It's not particularly high but then again it is still another 6 weeks or so until the match. I think most people will see that game as a dead rubber with Australia expected to beat NZ, Eng, and PNG and come top.

I read the other day that the World Cup Final is pretty much sold out and the other macth that is nearly sold out is the Tonga/Samoa game at CUA Stadium, Penrith...can't say I'm suprised that's gonna be a belter!

Anyone have anymore updates on the sales?

I'm really keen on going to one of England's matches.  I suppose a trip from Brisbane to Newcastle would be alright.  Then I could come back to Brisbane for the semi-final and final!

Looks like Aust V England in Melbourne will be a sellout also. 2/3rds of tickets have been sold.

I gotta admit that, although still sceptical, these sorts of reports are really making me think this tournament could be a massive success. I know the reports are always optimistic but just the fact that they're talking about a Tonga/Samoa sellout is amazing. I really thought we'd struggle to get any big crowds to the minor games considering the effort needed to get a Sydney full house for a Kangaroo/Kiwi game.

They were smart with the Tonga and Samoa games, they put them where their main population sits out in Western Sydney so they will be able to get there easy and they have kept prices reasonable.

Thing is is we belive the reports, then a profit is already been made with all the media and advertising and the money from tickets sales is extra icing on the cake.

Yeah, it doesn't feel like rugby league. Usually this sort of thing is a lot harder in rugby league. Usually a lot harder.....

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

I have a friend in Ticketek who informs me that while it may appear the final in Brisbane is sold out, there will be more tickets made available in the last few day running up to the game. So keep a watch out for those who still seek to buy.

A small note worth considering….     During the last State Of Origin at Brisbane (and at many events that say ‘Sold Out’) they were still advertising ‘single tickets only in some areas. If you call Ticketek rather than book on-line you can often get tickets close together and in the same row, as we did. When we got to the game we just asked people to move down a bit. We had no problems.

It cost a little more to buy, but we got to the game.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

I was the 33,995th person to buy a ticket for the Final.  I guess I was lucky to obtain a seat in the front row of the eastern stand!

I was also the 11,373rd and 11,374th person to buy a ticket for first semi-final.  Both of them are in the front row of the eastern stand, too.

Just baught tickets to the AUS vs NZ match in SYD and were 12853, similarly we were 2231 for the Ireland vs Samoa ar Parra Sadium which i suppose is a little dissapointing, id expect the fiji vs France match at Win Stadium to sell out, i live in the Illawarra and the ammount of advertising is phenominal its saturating, bill boards etc, have never seen this ammount of advertising by the dragons.

It'll be interesting to see how many of the Irish come out to support their team.

PAX numbers don't include tickets sold as part of travel packages and tickets that have been given away in prizes, etc.

Considering there have been around 6,500 travel packages sold in the UK you could probably quite safely add that number onto this to give a more accurate estimate of the level of ticket sales.

The ARL ought to start advertising the matches heavily.

    Re: World Cup Ticket Sales

I think the advertising for the RLWC has been quite good. I've not seen much on TV or radio because I don't consume much commercial TV or radio but there is a lot in RL press, on buses and on the street.
