Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

    High Side:
    Keith:

Someone on totalrl.com messageboards tonight is reporting that ticketek have already sold out category A tickets for the Final in Brisbane.   I hope that is not the case but if it is then I feel gutted with the whole affair.

I am so disappointed with the RFL, who haven't even had the decency to reply to any e-mails and I also sent a letter for Mr Richard Lewis on the subject and again not even the courtesy of a reply and he is the Deputy Chairman of the RL International Federation!!!!

If they were taking the matter up on behalf of UK fans it would be nice to know but it seems that they couldn't care less so I don't think I'll be buying anymore tickets for the matches here either.   They can remove me from their mailing list.

Mate, it's a shame that the RLF (and, for that matter, the ARL)'s poor handling of this had detered you from going to the matches that you wanted to.

I feel like they are both re-learning how to stage such an event after the last WC, and failing in many aspects. I would have been quite happy to wait another couple months or so for tickets if the arrangements had been better. I hope that the ticketing arrangements don't deter too many people coming to support their countries. I was looking forward to finding that the people seated behind me were from Scotland or PNG or something. It would be nice to have some friendly rivalry. Besides, it's not as fun to win if there's no one to beat. lol.

Also, I very surprised to hear that tickets have sold so quickly here. I would be inclined to check the sources for that. The only advertisement for the WC I've seen are when it was mentioned by commentators during the NRL finals series. Really, this could have been a lot better than it is.

Hi, just wanted to say that it appears Kieth may be right.  I purchased tickets on the 10/11/07 through tickettek on the net for the semis and grandfinal in Brisbane and found that the Reserve A tickets had all bee sold for the Grandfinal!!!  Considering they had not been on sale for long, and as others have said "ticket sales have not been well publicised in Aus", I was surprised the Reserve A tickets for the grandfinal were sold out!

I did wonder if they may have put aside a percenatge of the Reserve A's for international visitors.  I hope this is the case as it would not be beneficial to have visitors come such a long way and start their time off in Australia feeling bitter and cheated (as I would feel if in their position).

Oh, by the way...I was also unable to get reserve A tickets for the Brisbane semis on the 15/11/08...they too had been sold out!!!  So it is Reserve B for my family for both events and as I was too scared I would miss decent tickets....I did not reguest 'unlicensed'....I am now hoping we will not surrounded by intoxicated yobbos who could no doubt ruin this experience for my family!!!

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

The good news is that a relative has managed to get my tickets for me but could not get category A tickets for both Brisbane games and we have had to get category B, which apparently were selling fast as well.

He could have got single category A tickets but nothing for people wanting to sit together!!!!!

The bad news is that neither the RFL or the Deputy Chairman of the RLIF, Mr Richard Lewis, who also just happens to be the Executive Chairman of the RFL, have had the decency to address this problem, so all British independent travellers know where they stand.

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

just noticed on the ticket page that it says this

Tickets ordered for International Addresses will be cancelled and money refunded. International customers please note that a second open “on-sale” for individual tickets will be held from Monday 18th February 2008

i take it that means overseas fans can buy tickets?

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

Re: Cancelling tickets - wondering if they are just checking for overseas addresses or also checking for overseas email addresses (the IP address I think shows where the message is sent from) and overseas credit cards ( the first 6 digits on the card shows where it was issued)? Not too many people would have been silly enough to use a UK addresses. If they cancel tickets before the international sale then those people can at least try again and not miss out.

Also RFL probably aren't too interested in replying to questions about tickets as they are tied up in a commercial deal with Howes/Travleads if you check their website. Make sure you check all the other official tour operator options as there are some good deals for match packages with reserved tickets & independant travel - you don't have to do a full organised tour just pick which matches you want to go to and mix with your own travel.

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

I honestly think people will get tickets for what they require.  The only tickets sold out in Oz is the top whack for the final.  It's not football,  I'm going regardless!

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

Tickets are open to overseas people on the 18th Feb. From what I have heard on the grape vine, Category A tickets have been set aside for you so you do not need to worry that you missed out on the best seats in the house.

Re: Tickets for non-Aussies - some developments?

Has anyone from UK received their tickets for game in Melbourne? (eng v Aus) yet? I ordered and paid online for mine and paid for airmail delivery rather than print at home option.

It did say they wouldnt be posted till after 3rd March and if not rec'd by 31st to contact them, but I got all my other tickets really quickly.  Just wondered if anyone else had same problem?  The Melbourne game different ticket agency to all other England games.

Still another 12 days till 31st so plenty of time for them to arrive I suppose.

As for the other matches (vs NZ, SF and Final) the were all e-tickets, we have them here.
