"Just a quick note to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed the rugby league world cup you’ve organised.
"What’s been great about it is that its been a celebration of footy – teams playing for the pure joy of it.
"I particularly loved the matches involving the Kumuls, Samoans, Tongans and Fijians.
"Most of it I watched on telly but I went out to see the Fijians play Australia last weekend and despite the lopsided score it was the best sporting event I’ve seen in years. The crowd’s passion, the players pride and the beautiful simple hymns sung by the Fijian players before and after the game will live with me forever (and I’m an atheist).
"It was of course great to see such a fine Australian side – and what made it even better was that they played without hubris – and with respect for a much lesser team.
"So many great stories have come out of this – Jaryd Haynes redemption, the old bloke playing for New Guinea, the brilliance of Slater, the Kumuls almost beating the poms.
"Who cares that Australia are head and shoulders above the rest – it’s been great to see sport played like this.
"This has been great for the sport and these kids.
"Ignore any whingers.
"Congratulations."

Congratulations on a great RLWC 2008.
I have enjoyed it immensily and many people here in Russia were watching the matches.
The games were even shown on National TV here in Russia.

“I reckon this World Cup is already better than the 2000 World Cup and shows every sign of being better than the 1995 World Cup. Its great to see all the different styles of rugby played by so many countries all in one competition. The only down side is that I can't be over there to watch it.”
